Rebalance your body with restorative yoga .

Perhaps ''supported yoga'' or ''Vishranta yoga'' don't mean anything to you? This is restorative yoga , a gentle and slow style of yoga to finally take the time to relax. It's a moment just for you, far from the sometimes stressful and tiring daily life. As its name suggests, this practice allows you to restore the functions of your body through postures with accessories and silence, putting you face to face with yourself.

What is restorative yoga?

Restorative yoga is very gentle, allowing to restore and harmonize the body, especially the nervous system to promote deep recovery and relaxation. Thus, your mind is soothed and your body relaxed. It is also an aid to convalescence from an accident, an operation, an illness or simply to fight against stress and depression.

You never have time to take care of yourself? The practice of restorative yoga is a good way to take a few moments to find yourself, know yourself (especially your "inner self"), find solutions to problems and release emotional blockages... without doing anything. What more could you ask for? You will feel the benefits of restorative yoga asanas on your body and mind, while being fully conscious. A silent atmosphere encourages the encounter with oneself. Indeed, the yoga teacher does not intervene during the session.

The principle of restorative yoga inspired by Iyengar yoga

The principle of restorative yoga is based on the realization of simple and comfortable asanas with a slow rhythm mixing with that of the breath as well as moments of relaxation. The postures do not allow performance, but simply relaxation, while doing nothing special, just enjoy. Some positions are relaxing while others require a little muscular effort.

Restorative yoga is inspired by Iyengar, using yoga accessories to hold a posture longer. Objects such as blocks, bricks, bolsters, chairs, cushions, blankets are welcome to help maintain a prolonged position without pain or other difficulties that would hinder relaxation. This also helps restore every part of your body, including muscles and organs. Also, remember to bring a quality and comfortable yoga mat.

Who is restorative yoga for?

Thanks to its comfortable and simple postures, restorative yoga can be practiced by anyone, except perhaps if you are hyperactive. However, it is a perfect practice for those who are stressed, depressed or suffer from chronic ailments.

A 3-step restorative yoga session

A restorative yoga class takes place according to certain stages which may vary. You start with Pranayama (breathing) exercises. Then, you continue with 3 or 4 asanas lasting at least 10 minutes each, performed with yoga accessories and combined with breathing exercises through the nose. Your body and mind are completely relaxed. Finally, 10 to 25 minutes of relaxation in Savasana position close the session.

The various benefits of restorative yoga

Just like the practice of yoga in general, restorative yoga has many virtues for the mind and body:

  • Fight against stress, anxiety, insomnia and depression,

  • Soothes the mind and negative thoughts,
