It also offers MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Management) programs online. The next protocol will start in March 2021.
Below, she reminds us of the main principles of mindfulness, its benefits, and how to develop this practice in our daily lives by following an MBSR program.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the awareness that occurs when we pay attention voluntarily and without judgment to the experience of the present moment (presence to the breath, sensations, thoughts, emotions, in an acceptance of things as they are, pleasant or unpleasant). Mindfulness is trained through formal meditation practices and daily practices.

What is mindfulness meditation?

Mindfulness meditation trains our ability to pay attention to what is present in the moment, integrating a dimension of ethics and benevolence.

What are the benefits of mindfulness meditation?

• Stress reduction
• Emotional regulation (anxiety, fear, sadness, anger, impulsivity, frustration, dissatisfaction)
• Change of perspective with regard to pain and illness (see chronic illnesses and pain, dietary stress, etc.).
• Reduction in the risk of depressive relapse, reduction in the risk of burnout
. Improved sleep/concentration.
• Distancing and cognitive flexibility (cf. reduction of mental ruminations)
• Compassion and self-compassion.
• Improved interpersonal relationships (listening, empathy, ability to set limits)
• Change of perspective in the relationship to the body (ability to feel, proprioception, etc.)

What is the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) protocol?

The MBSR protocol was created by Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn in the early 1980s.

35 years later, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) is recognized in healthcare, scientific studies and public policy.

How does the MBSR protocol work?

There are 4 types of attention : attention to the breath, to the body, to emotions, and to mental states.

The MBSR protocol introduces us to these states of consciousness through different meditation exercises: body scan, mindful movement, meditative walking, guided seated meditations. Then meditate on what we usually call "open awareness or choiceless awareness".

These meditations are directly placed in the context of daily life. The MBSR protocol is not a therapy, it will not cure or replace medical treatment. It can sustainably reduce physical and psychological symptoms, alleviate pain levels and improve the ability to manage pain that does not go away.

The 8-week online MBSR Protocol offered by Bénédicte provides an ability to cope more effectively with short and long-term stressful situations and an improvement in self-esteem.
