What is Sun Salutation B – Surya Namaskar B by Yogalie, yoga teacher in Annecy

Sun Salutation B is a cycle of postures that are repeated several times in order to warm up the entire body. We will also see a new posture, that of the chair or Utkatasana, a powerful posture that strengthens the quadriceps and the muscles of the lower back.

It is found in the practice of Ashtanga yoga and Vinyiasa.

Come and stand at the front of your yoga mat , we are going to practice this sequence of postures together:

Inhale exhale in Mountain pose or Tadasana

Inhale into Utkatasana (Chair Pose)

Exhale in Uttanasana or head to knees pose

Inhale into Ardha Uttanasana posture

Come into plank or Phalakasana hold your breath then exhale into Chaturanga Dandasana

Inhale in Upward Facing Dog or Urdhva Mukha Svanasana

Exhale into Downward Facing Dog or Adho Mukha Svanasana

Inhale and come with your right leg forward into Warrior I or Virabhadrasana I

Come into plank or Phalakasana hold your breath then exhale into Chaturanga Dandasana

Inhale Upward Facing Dog or Urdhva Mukha Svanasana

Exhale into Downward Facing Dog or Adho Mukha Svanasana

Inhale and come with your left leg forward into Warrior I or Virabhadrasana I

Come into plank or Phalakasana hold your breath then exhale into Chaturanga Dandasana

Inhale Upward Facing Dog or Urdhva Mukha Svanasana

Exhale Downward Facing Dog or Adho Mukha Svanasana

Inhale into Ardha Uttanasana posture

Exhale in Uttanasana or head to knees pose

Inhale into Utkatasana (Chair Pose)

Exhale and return to Tadasana posture

Continue as many times as you want and remember to BREATHE well in each posture.
