A good grounding to feel safe and increase your self-confidence.

You may have never heard the word "grounding". But, have you ever felt in your place, in the present moment and good in your body? This impression that everything was possible? I am sure of it. It is then that you were well grounded without knowing it. Rooting in the present moment allows stability and letting go. For this, you can practice anchoring meditation by visualizing tree roots. Simple, right?

What is grounding?

Grounding is the connection with the earth and nature like the tree that is well rooted in the ground thanks to its roots. It is being yourself here and now. The leaves allow the cosmic connection with the divine, the universe or God (call it what you want). Thus, the tree feeds as much on the earth as on the light. Any spiritual work on the mind requires being well rooted beforehand.

The benefits of ground rooting are:

  • Have your feet on the ground,
  • Have more self-confidence,
  • More easily let go,
  • Feel safer,
  • Being in the here and now and being yourself,
  • Feeling at home in this world,
  • Be more aware of your body and of it in space,
  • Be better connected with your body, your sensations, your emotions and your perceptions,
  • Develop your creative potential.

You can access this grounding through meditation and your physical body, because this is where your anchor comes from.

How can anchoring meditation help you ground yourself?

Anchoring meditation is the best known for grounding yourself. This involves visualizing tree roots coming out of your feet, while listening to your sensations. You yourself will become this tree that is so rooted in the earth. From these roots, mother earth will thus nourish you with energy that you will feel throughout your body. This grounding meditation is linked to the physical body, but also the root chakra which is the first of the 7 chakras whose color is red.

How to meditate for grounding?

Some will call it anchoring meditation, others will call it tree meditation . The name doesn't matter, it's the way you do it that counts. However, be aware that the method can differ from person to person. The most important thing is to find the one that's right for you. Here are the main steps of the anchoring meditation technique :

  • Sit with your back straight, your feet flat on the floor and your hands on your thighs or standing. Close your eyes,
  • Relax every part of your body,
  • Imagine roots coming out of your feet and digging into the ground, further and further and deeper and deeper,
  • Now they travel all over the earth and even go to the center of the planet,
  • Observe your roots: the color, the sound, the smell, the taste, the touch,
  • Now feel the energy that the earth brings you. Feel it in your feet, in your legs, in your pelvis and up to the top of your head. Thus, you are more serene, here and now in your body,
  • But also, feel the energy that the sky brings to you through the top of your head (7th chakra – Crown Chakra),
  • Finally, whenever you want, you can open your eyes and move every limb of your body.
