Our partnership with the Tchendukua association
Discover the Tchendukua association
It is because we wish to give back to nature what it offers us that is most precious that we support the “ Tchendukua Association – Here and Elsewhere ”.
This was created in 1997 by Eric Julien who supports the Tayrona Indians and their Kogi descendants. The Association is developing a biodiversity preservation/reconstitution program to enable them to regain their ancestral lands and keep their values alive.
Living in the heart of the largest biodiversity reserve in the world, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, the Kogis Indians have been able to preserve their principles of community life based on the law of the Living. Their values and philosophy of life are in perfect harmony with what yoga teaches us.
With every order, we plant a tree
Behind each of your orders, there is a tree planted on site, and one more step towards the preservation of this first people.
The trees that are being replanted are called Guaimaro (Mayan Nut in English). The seeds growing on them are rich in vitamins A, B, C and E, iron, protein, zinc, calcium, potassium, folic acid and fiber. The nutritional properties are similar to quinoa and soy.
This is why this plant, producing around 180 kg of nuts per year, helps to feed the Kogis people.
But the benefits don't stop there. The Guaimaro is undemanding, as its roots retain carbon. In addition, it requires no maintenance when planted. It is therefore an excellent tree to revive the rainforest in areas where land has been cleared by agriculture.
How many trees have we planted thanks to you?
Thanks to you, since 2014, we have participated in the planting of more than 3,632 trees. Since its creation, the Tchendukua association has returned nearly 1,800 hectares to the Kogis, allowing the regeneration of more than 1,200 hectares of forest, the resettlement of families and traditional villages.
Why did you choose this association?
Like Nicolas Hulot, Thomas Pesquet and Eric Julien, the founder of the Tchendukua association, we have chosen to support the project "re-enchanting the living" because it responds to our concern for the preservation of the planet and the first peoples/roots. A return to nature.
In 2022, Tchendukua celebrates 25 years of working with the indigenous populations of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia.
