Portrait of a Parisian Amazon: Angèle Vivier
Angele Vivier, Artist, dreamer, life experimenter, mother and free thinker.
Currently filming regularly for “The Mysteries of Love” and for C8 in “Journey to the End of the Night”.
Yoga came into her life as a matter of course almost 3 years ago.
In addition to her artistic career, she plans to train as a teacher and thus have another string to her bow.
How did you get into taking care of yourself?
Since I was little, I have thought a lot about life, feelings and what surrounds me. So it was quite natural that I started to take care of myself, when I realized that my anger, my anxieties were hurting me and were not always helping things around me. I had to find solutions to these problems, very young, to understand why I got angry, why I cried, what the repercussions were and if they were bad, what the solutions were.
What practice for your well-being?
Today I know that a healthy lifestyle, a good diet, good sleep, sport (dopamine), sun, meditation (channeling all these outpourings of thoughts to find calm, to be in the present moment), yoga (circulation of energies, body medicine), creation, expression through writing, guitar or drawing for example and love of course, do me good.
I am not for extremes but I think you have to have a solid and healthy base.
What is the ritual of your practice?
I don't really have a ritual, or rather my rituals change from time to time, having a schedule that is constantly changing (artist) and also liking to leave room for the unexpected.
I do flexibility exercises and yoga postures sometimes in any situation, it is not rare that during a shoot I am seen in strange positions (laughs). Every beginning of the week I organize my schedule in order to mix pleasure and efficiency. I first set my obligations (appointments, shoots etc ...) then 2 to 5 days of sport (climbing, swimming, running, muscle strengthening), my training times and work for personal projects at home, then family leisure activities (I have a young boy who is at home one week out of two). Of course this schedule is not immune to disruptions or changes during the week but I try to stick to it.
One of my new goals is to give myself time every day for yoga and meditation as well as time without the phone which is a great tool but too much can become a poison. As in everything, the important thing is the right balance.
Reading is also important to me.
What do you get out of it?
Calming down and a better understanding of the world and myself. Evolution never stops, even if sometimes we feel like we no longer understand anything, that we are losing our footing, it is human, hence the importance of a solid and healthy base...
What do you carry in your yoga bag?
A mat, water or a lemon ginger infusion, a towel, and my outfit!
What is your favorite object/accessory?
My guitar, my son (I'm kidding, it's neither an object nor an accessory)
What would be your advice for Tayrona Yoginis?
Not to practice for the purpose of performance but with the sole idea of doing yourself good, to concentrate on the flow of energy which circulates thanks to the postures and breathing.
Where/how do you practice?
I like to practice everywhere but I practice most regularly with my colleagues and friends “Les Amazones parisiennes.”
A center that I also recommend and appreciate is the Sivananda center.
My best memories of my personal practice are when I was surrounded by nature. I had the chance to practice, surrounded by mountains, at altitude, and as much for the oxygen, for the energy and for the surrounding atmosphere, it was simply magical.
What is your mantra/favourite phrase?
Let your word be impeccable
Speak with integrity. Speak only what you mean. Avoid using words that are against yourself or gossiping about others. Use the power of your words with truth and love.
Don't react to anything personally.
You are not responsible for the actions of others. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you are not a victim of unnecessary suffering.
Don't make any assumptions
Have the courage to ask questions and express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings and drama. With this agreement alone, you can completely transform your life.
Always do your best
No matter what the circumstances, always do your best and you will avoid guilt, frustration and regret. Your best may change from moment to moment, it will be different depending on whether you are healthy or sick.
