Downward Facing Dog Pose (Adho Mukha Svanasana) - Tayrona Yoga x Magalie Fra
Downward Dog pose, explained by Magalie Fra, Yoga teacher in Annecy
On all fours on your yoga mat, wrists aligned with shoulders and knees aligned with hips.
Start by pressing your hands into the yoga mat, your arms are straight and you are going to rotate your elbows. The inside of your elbows face the front of your mat. You will then feel a slight rounding forming at the level of your upper back.
Next, hook your toes onto the mat and begin to push your glutes back and then lift your hips toward the sky.
Once in this position, your back should be stretched and straight, so you need to adjust the position with your legs and if necessary keep your knees bent. If your back is straight, you can keep your legs straight.
Make sure to create space at the back of your neck. Try to send your breath between your shoulder blades and create space between your shoulders and your ears so as not to create tension in this area.
Engage at the core, which means engaging your abs by drawing your belly button toward your back, and raise your hips as high as you can toward the sky. Feel the deep stretch in your back.
Inhale, exhale and enjoy the benefits of this asana
Who is Magalie Franche, yoga teacher in Annecy?
Originally from the southwest, I have lived in Annecy for two years and have been a yoga teacher since the beginning of the year, I was trained by Sharleen @yogavahine yoga teacher in Annecy and I then continued to train in the practice of teaching in Bali with the @zazyoga school. I was literally seduced by these two teachings which have in common the respect of the body and its alignments. We are all different and yoga must take this into account.
I have been practicing yoga for almost three years now and for me, it is my daily therapy, that of the body and the mind...
At the same time, I am currently studying to become a Naturopathy practitioner so that one day I can combine these two major fields.
Ultimately, my ideal would be to be able to offer a range of solutions dedicated to supporting the well-being of the physical and spiritual body via yoga, nutrition, reflexology, massage, etc.
I am delighted to partner today with @Tayronayoga to offer you this online content that will hopefully help you feel more comfortable in your yoga practice.
See you soon on your yoga mats.
Namaste.
